Phil Emery

Originally from Toronto, Ontario, Phil Emery is a dynamic leader and marketer, and the brains behind Focused Creative, a marketing practice serving clients across North America.

A lifelong musician and songwriter, Phil launched The Songwriter’s Meetup in 2009, which evolved into the CJRU-Toronto radio show, Song Talk Radio, in 2013. This show later transformed into The Song Talk Radio Podcast, now boasting over 500 weekly episodes. They’ve featured interviews with legends like The Go-Go’s Kathy Vallentine, songwriter Chris Ward (Black Velvet), producers like Chris Birkett (Sinead O’Conners Nothing Compares to You), and songwriters of all levels.

Phil has composed and performed music for film and live theatre in Toronto and was the bass player, co-vocalist, co-songwriter, and CMO for the Toronto power-pop band “The Parkdale Hookers.” This allowed him to collaborate with music industry heavyweights like Eric Ratz (Billy Talent, Arkells, Monster Truck) and the renowned Nick Blagona (The Police, Nazsreth).

Now residing in St. John’s with his wife and their four cats, Phil is trying to figure out what the heck “freezing fog” could possibly be.
